Do you have any new, or nearly new, toys, crafts or books that you would like to donate to children living in situations of vulnerability or extreme poverty across Birmingham this Christmas?
Birmingham Scouts are supporting Toys4Birmingham by offering families local drop off opportunities in Sutton Coldfield and Handsworth Wood.
Collections for toy donations will be open at the following times on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December;
Sutton Coldfield: 10am - 12pm Saturday and Sunday at 10th Sutton Coldfield Sea Scouts HQ (Boldmere Gate, Sutton Park, Stonehouse Rd, Sutton Coldfield B73 6LH)
If you wish to take any toys directly to Edgbaston Cricket Ground that would also be amazing.
2020 has been a year to remember in many different ways. 2020 has opened our eyes to make us realise how much we take for granted. It has made us realise how much we need social interactions, how much we rely on those who we do not live with and how much we all need Scouting in our lives big or small.
2020 has been a tough year for all of us, but for some it has been unimaginably tough and from all of us at iceScout our thoughts are with you.
iceScout for us normally signals that we are nearing the end of the year and that Christmas celebrations are just around the corner and we kick off those celebrations with a weekend of fun, adventure and great activities at iceScout. Unfortunately that is not going to be possible this year. Instead we are producing an iceScout at home booklet which will contain a few activities which can be done at home and with your family. So make sure to check back here or in your inbox for a link to it.
Our main message over the weekend of iceScout (4th - 6th December) is to get out and enjoy the great outdoors, whatever the weather, just as you would if you were at iceScout. So as we are giving you some activity ideas please share with us videos or pictures of what you are up to that weekend, whether it’s doing an activity from the booklet or simply enjoying the great outdoors we want to see it! #iceScoutathome
We are please to announce the Shirehike a walking Festival with Herefordshire & Worcestershire Scouts in partnership with Gloucestershire and Shropshire Scouts. Together we have assembled a list of over 90 walks and hikes across the counties. Ranging from urban parks to more challenging routes, all walks are given a star rating based on their distance. We hope everyone can take part, from our youngest Beaver Scouts right through to our Network members and adult volunteers.
Shirehike runs from 5th December 2020 until 14th March 2021 and all walks completed and logged in that time can count towards your Shirehike badge.
You need to register to take part by visiting http://shirehike.shirejam.org.uk
Face-2-Face Activities was suspended on Tuesday 17 March 2020. The UK Scout Association are following guidelines set by National Youth Agency.
We are currently writing the risk assessments for us to meet face to face in small groups, and working on a scouting programme that we can do following all the guidelines that we must following during these time.
We hope to meeting back face to face very soon!
